With the eyes of the world on him as the 2020 American presidential general election on November 3rd got underway, Donald Trump had a golden opportunity. He could have let democracy run its course, votes get counted, and accept the end result regardless of which way it went.

Instead, as his chances slipped away in the days that followed Election Day and Joe Biden was named the presumptive president-elect, he fought tooth and nail to perpetuate baseless conspiracy theories about voter fraud and large scale election stealing operations to anyone who would listen. Rather than bow out gracefully and wish Biden well, he flipped the table and promised another round of frivolous lawsuits devoid of even the most minute shred of evidence.

Donald Trump had a golden opportunity to retain his dignity and end his turbulent, toxic presidency on a high note. He blew it.

Every election comes with its fair share of irregularities, but none on the scope of what Trump is claiming. He is suggesting that hundreds of thousands, if not millions of votes were cast illegally and he is entitled to a recount in multiple states. His current claims echo ones that he made following the 2016 election, which he won. Zero proof came out to justify his claims that the 2016 election was rigged in the way that he was saying. A lot of evidence…
