Kellogg’s Eggo Cereal vs. Post’s Waffle Crisp

Now that Waffle Crisp has finally come back I feel like it’s time to warn people against choosing Kellogg’s Eggo cereal, the clearly inferior product of the two. While Waffle Crisp was away, Kellogg’s took advantage of the window of opportunity. They knew that Waffle Crisp fans didn’t have anything else, so they just came out with something. It wasn’t amazing. It was just something. Kellogg’s Eggo cereal is good enough to be considered a waffle cereal. It’s nothing to write home about though. You are going to have a more enjoyable experience if you go with the clear winner of the two. I am not being paid to say this. I have had enough of each product to come to this conclusion.

I hope that Kellogg’s sees the return of Waffle Crisp as a sign that they need to make their product better. Perhaps they could take it off the market for a few months and then bring it back with a new and improved formula. Maybe they could leave the old version on the market while they are still working on a new one. When the old one runs out, the new one comes in. The stores could put up signage advertising the fact that the formula changed. The possibilities are endless. The fact remains that Kellogg’s found a way to make something as interesting as a waffle cereal as boring as possible. Accomplishing this feat takes true talent.
