Kellogg’s Waffle Cereal Review

I went into trying Kellogg’s Eggo Waffle cereal with an open mind. Being a big fan of Post’s Waffle Crisp, I really wanted it to be the replacement for my dearly departed favorite cereal. After having a couple boxes, I was underwhelmed. The waffle flavoring in the cereal was not convincing and the additional flavoring in the blueberry type was completely underwhelming. Supposedly there’s a chocolate version of this cereal, but I haven’t seen it during my various trips to the grocery store. It wouldn’t matter anyway because all chocolate cereals are more or less the same and the disappointing waffle flavor in the regular version of this cereal would be masked by the chocolate, rendering the cereal a basic chocolate cereal rather than an actual chocolate waffle cereal.

From 2006 to 2012, Kellogg’s Eggo Waffle cereal initially reigned in the cereal aisle before it disappeared. Popular demand brought it back in 2019 following the conclusion of a successful publicity stunt on social media centered on National Waffle Day. This cereal’s re-release is interesting because it came right after Post’s Waffle Crisp left the scene in 2018. It stands to reason that Kellogg’s Eggo Waffle cereal would have never made a comeback if Waffle Crisp stuck around. Between the two products, it’s plain to see that Waffle Crisp is the superior cereal. Since there’s no other waffle cereal out there now, Kellogg’s Eggo…
