The Cruel Tease: Waffle Crisp’s Brief Return and Heartbreaking Departure

I never thought I would have to write this article. When Post finally yielded to the collective cries of cereal enthusiasts nationwide and brought Waffle Crisp back to store shelves, I truly believed we had won. I thought that corporate America had, for once, listened to the people rather than their spreadsheets. I convinced myself that my beloved breakfast companion would remain a fixture in my pantry for years. But I was wrong. Devastatingly wrong.

For those who have not experienced this saga (though it’s hard to imagine who you might be), Waffle Crisp was Post’s crown jewel — tiny, maple-infused waffle-shaped pieces that maintained their crunch in milk while delivering an unparalleled breakfast experience. The cereal disappeared from shelves years ago, leaving a void in the cereal aisle that no amount of Honey Bunches of Oats could fill. Then, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, it returned to us. And now, inexplicably and unconscionably, Post has pulled it away again, leaving us all in profound disappointment and loss.
