Those Rusty Chains

\In the night, I hear the chains rattling
Rusty and showing signs of great wear
I tried to figure out why they were there
Nobody else seemed to see them but me
I started to think my mind was now gone

I kept hearing the chains as time went on
Getting louder as I grew much older
I became used to them being around
Into the background they started to slip
I went on with my life like they were gone

The strain of avoiding them grew too great
I had to take them down once and for all
It had become time to start things over
Go back to when the chains shined like diamonds
Sadly it seemed like that was no longer

Sometimes you have to come to grips with truths
The chains won’t shine like they did back when
You can hang new chains or begin again
Get rid of chains tying and binding you
Set forth in this life free like you should be
